2 tips for riders requesting an Uber or Lyft to pick them up or drop them off at a military base

When requesting an Uber or Lyft to pick you up or drop you off at a military base don’t assume the driver knows what the restrictions are, know what gate to go through, or that they have to have a pass. It’s on you the rider to make sure the driver is able to pick you up or drop you off after they’ve accepted the request.

Listed below are two different approaches riders can take when requesting pick-ups from or drop offs to a military base.

  1. Once a driver has accepted a request text them and ask them if they have pass to get on base, if they say no cancel the ride. You have up to five minutes after a driver has accepted the ride to cancel without being charged.
  2. If a driver can’t get on base and you are okay with walking off or on ask them to pick you up or drop you off somewhere off the installation.
