Lyft drivers have always been required to verify their profile. But now Lyft is encouraging riders to take this safety measure, too. This will help drivers confirm that the person they’re riding with is who they say they are.
How Does Lyft Verify Your Identity?
Lyft’s process includes cross-checking a rider’s personal information, like their legal name and phone number, using trusted, third-party databases. If your information can’t be validated, you may be asked to upload an ID. Any information provided to Lyft is protected in accordance with Lyft’s privacy policy.
What Happens After You’ve Verified Your Identity?
Once you’ve verified your identity you will see a verification badge on your profile in the Lyft app. Drivers will also see the badge when they are matched with you.
