What Is HyreCar?

HyreCar is a peer-to-peer car renting platform that connects rideshare drivers with vehicle owners. Through HyreCar, rideshare drivers can ensure they have a car that meets requirements set in place on the platforms.

HyreCar works with all rideshare, and delivery app platforms, but here’s a list of some they partner with:

How Does HyreCar Work For Owners?

Sign Up

Once you have created an account you will be able to set up a free listing in just a few minutes. Just describe your car and upload some clean photos, vehicle registration, and inspection document from one of the driving platforms.​

Respond To Driver Request

When someone requests to rent your vehicle, you will be notified. Make sure to confirm the application as soon as possible for it expires after 24 hours.

Verify Documents

After you approve the application, make sure to verify the accuracy of all the documents on your vehicle. Insurance for your vehicle will be generated 24 hours before pick up.

Hand Off The Keys

When meeting with the driver verify their license, walk around the car and check the fuel and mileage.​

Get Paid

Once it is confirmed the driver picked up the car you will be paid.​

Pick Up Your Car

When the rental is over, and the driver doesn’t want to extend their rental coordinate a time and location to pick up your vehicle.

How Does HyreCar Work For Drivers?

First you will need to create an account.

Find Your Car And Submit Applications

Once you have that done you will be able to go to the marketplace and pick out a car. When you find a car click “Book Now” to start the rental process. Then, input the dates you will need the car. HyreCar has a two-day minimum for rentals, you can also extend the rental period by reaching out to the owner. HyreCar also recommends booking 5 to 10 cars. This will increase your chance of getting the car you want. Note you will only be charged for the care you’re approved to drive.

Once you’ve decided on a car and have filled out your payment information (If you use a debit card a fully refundable $200 deposit will be held in your account). After the booking is confirmed, the company will run a quick background check. This is for new drivers only and only takes a few hours. When the car owner approves your application HyreCar will send you three documents that you will need to upload to the platform you are looking to drive on. The documents include vehicle registration, 19-point inspection report, your rideshare insurance.

Note: if you decide to pay with a credit card you won’t be ​charge the refundable $200 deposit.

Meeting The Owner and Earning

Before picking up the car, make sure your documents have been uploaded and verified by the platform you are choosing to drive on. That way you start immediately when you pick up the car. Also, make sure to do a thorough inspection of the vehicle before you drive off. Look for any major dings, scrapes or other kinds of interior/exterior damage that wasn’t revealed in the photos of the car. If you should find something, make sure to take pictures so you and the owner know the issue was there when you picked up the car.

Return The Car

Before dropping off the car to the owner, make sure to replace the gas used, then meet the owner to drop off the car. Make sure to walk around the car again to make sure you are clear of any damages and hand over the keys.

Note: You can also rate the owner at the end of the rental.

Driver Requirements

  • Drivers must be at least 21 years of age
  • Drivers must possess a valid in-state driver’s license
  • Drivers must have had the license for at least one year in the state the driver is looking to obtain a rental car
  • Drivers must have a mobile phone in their name, to allow HyreCar to communicate through text messages
  • Drivers must have an existing Lyft, Uber, or other on-demand rideshare or courier account

What Is A HyreCar Host?

A HyreCar host list their car on the HyreCar platform, allowing other users to rent it out for short-term periods, and you earn a portion of the rental fee each time your car is booked.
