Uber is testing out a new feature that will allow drivers to record video using the front-facing camera on their smartphone, similar to a dashcam.
This new feature will be free to drivers, and can easily be set up in the Uber Driver app. Once the feature is enabled, drivers can record both video and audio on every trip.
Since this new feature is built on top of Ubers Audio Recording technology, it comes with the same privacy protections. So, no one including the driver, can access the recording unless the driver chooses to share it with Uber.
This new feature will be available to select drivers in Cincinnati, Louisville, and New York City U.S., as well as Santos and João Pessoa, Brazil.
